This wanderer dreams about the business he held before battle and loss of life took them away. He has misplaced his lord and fellow-warriors, the lively mead-halls, and the showers of feasts and treasures. This cultural circle is forget about, leaving the wanderer only to contemplate the areas of sadness, nobility, and wisdom. The Wanderer comprises two voices: the narrator and the wanderer. The poet, even so, writes both.
